THEORY OF MIND

As adults we often interpret others' behaviors in terms of mental states (e.g., "they didn't mean to do that," or "they must not know what's going on"). This ability, called Theory of Mind, is crucial for healthy emotional and social development. But when and how does it develop? Here at the CEC, we are interested in increasing our understanding of the developmental origins of Theory of Mind (ToM), including how ToM is related to other areas of healthy functioning (e.g., emotion understanding).
